Famous Vršič
From Kranjska Gora, we drive past Lake Jasna, followed by the ascent to the highest Slovenian mountain pass Vršič (1611 m). You will be able to admire the spectacular surrounding peaks. At the top, we will have a break at one of the mountain huts and some time to admire the view. We descend along the old road past Kekec’s Land in the Krnica Valley and back towards Kranjska Gora.

SUITABILITY

On this bike trip, we make about 800 meters of altitude, then head down the old forest road back to the valley. Therefore, it is suitable for individuals or groups who are slightly better fitness and technically prepared.

DESCRIPTION

Would you like to see as an eagle?
First, the pleasant cycling trail from Kranjska Gora leads us to the Nordic centre Planica, which hosts the best ski jumpers of the world every year. Then we take the bike to the leap of the largest ski jump in the world! We descend back to the valley and continue our journey at a leisurely pace below Ponce towards the hut in the Tamar Valley (1110 m), where there is a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks, among which is also the symbol of Slovenian mountaineering! We stop at the cottage and take time for a break and a snack. Afterward, we take an enjoyable descent back to Kranjska Gora.

SUITABILITY

This bike excursion is suitable for almost all individuals and groups. On this excursion, we make about 400 meters of ascent. Also, the journey is not technically demanding. So bravely, you will be able to do it too! This bike trip is also suitable for families.

DESCRIPTION

View of the Thee lands
From Kranjska Gora, we head through the surrounding meadows to the Korensko sedlo, a mountain pass in western Karavanke, which borders Austria. Afterward, we have a pleasant ascent to Triple border (1508 m), the summit at which the national borders of the three countries, Austria, Italy, and Slovenia, merge. So you can have one leg in Italy, another in Austria and your head in Slovenia. The views also extend to all three countries. After enjoying the magnificent views from the top, we descent to Rateče and return to KRANJSKA GORA along the cycle path.

SUITABILITY

On this cycling trip, we make about 700 meters of altitude; therefore, this cycling excursion is medium demanding. However, the journey is technically not very demanding since we go through a wide forest road at all times. The bike trip is also suitable for families with slightly more enduring individuals.

DESCRIPTION


From Kranjska Gora, we head through Rateče in direction of Trbiž. We then cross the Italian border and soon turn left at the roadsign “Laghi di Fusine”; the road leads us to the Belopeška lakes. Views of lakes and mountaintops are breathtaking. You can decide to take a walk around the lakes while those more demanding can hike to the “Rifugio Zacchi” mountain cottage (1,380 m/4,528 ft. above sea level). It is situated on the Italian side of the Visoka Ponca mountain. Once there, we make descent back towards Kranjska Gora.

SUITABILITY

On this cycling trip, we make no more than 123 meters’/404 ft. worth of ascent so the trip is also suitable for those individuals and groups with somewhat lower physical fitness. It is also suitable for families.

DESCRIPTION

Where glaciers reigned
The path from Kranjska Gora leads along the cycle path through the village of Mojstrana, which proudly guards the entrance to the three Triglav valleys. There, we turn towards the Vrata Valley past the beautiful Peričnik Waterfall. We continue to the Aljaž Lodge, where we can enjoy the view of the Triglav northern wall. We have time for some lunch and a break. On our way back, we turn to the Krma Valley, the longest of the three glacial valleys leading from Mojstrana. We then return along the beautiful cycle path to Kranjska Gora.

SUITABILITY

The excursion is technically easy. However, we travel quite a few kilometres and altitude difference. It is also suitable for not very skilful cyclists with more fitness.

SUITABILITY

Family cycling trips in and around Kranjska Gora are suitable for practically anyone. For young children who are already seated on their own, we have a bike trailer that parents can easily carry behind, attached to their electric bicycle. The trailer can accommodate two children at a time. We also have baby seats for a bit older children, which can be attached above the rear tire of the electric bicycle. We also have bikes for children who already know how to ride a bike. Electric bikes are available for children from about eight years on.

ATTRACTIONS ON THE ROAD

There are many attractions in Kranjska Gora and its surroundings that will not leave children and parents indifferent. Kranjska Gora is Kekec’s Land; therefore, Kekec’s story will follow you every step of the way. We can visit Kekec Land by bicycle, where we will get to know the real Kekec and the other heroes. In Planica, we can take a look at ski jump training and maybe meet Peter Prevc. During the cycling excursion, we can descend the longest sledding route in Slovenia. When we reach the top of the sledge line with the chair lift, we must stop at the land of games that are entirely wooden and unique. While cycling, we will get to know the mountains that guard Kranjska Gora and maybe hear some stories about it. On the way to the pearly clear Lake Jasna, we can stop at a sports park which is also suitable for children. If not enough, we can visit the Dwarf Land in Gozd – Martuljek. And much more …
